St Thomas’ church is a large bunch of people of all shapes, ages and styles … all journeying together in the great walk of life with Jesus Christ. It is great to have you along or considering joining us at this time in your journey of life … or just visiting our website to find out a bit more about us! Jesus encouraged people to “come and see”, to get involved, to follow him around. Yes, he taught about the need to ‘believe’, but it was important first of all for people to feel that they ‘belonged’ with him. Hence, helping each other to ‘belong’, to find friends and become settled at St Thomas’ church is a big priority for us all. We are all on the Christian journey together. You may just be getting going on this journey or been about it for decades, but, whatever stage you are at, I hope that you will be encouraged in your journey and take every opportunity to encourage others in theirs. Jesus called us to be servants of one another and to be recognised in the world for the love we generously share. In 2004 we ‘stepped out’ with an ambitious plan to grow a strong and healthy church. We want to see many people come to know Jesus and to step on in faith with Him, discovering their gifts and how to use them in the church and the wider community. This is an exciting time for us! We hold a picture of our church as a ‘mighty river’ made up of ‘streams’ flowing together—streams of Worship, Evangelism, Discipleship, Fellowship, Youth Work, and Pastoral Care. This river is held in flow by the ‘riverbanks’ of Administration and Resources. The ‘riverbed’ is Prayer on which the whole river flows. |
