The Alpha Course
The next Alpha course will be in January 2011.
The Alpha Course provides a great opportunity to ask the questions of life. Everyone has questions! Big questions, real questions, questions that matter ...about life, death, injustice, suffering, the future, religion, faith and belief. The Alpha Course is a place to ask these questions, delve into the issues, be listened to, valued and find some answers. Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over ten thought provoking weekly sessions with a day away. Over 2 million people in the UK and 10 million people world wide have attended an Alpha Course. The course is designed primarily for people who aren't church goers. People attend for a wide variety of reasons - some want to investigate whether God exists, others may have attended church in the past or occasionally but feel they have never, understood the basics of the Christian faith. Still others due to personal circumstances have begun to question the meaning of life and want some answers. The evening begins with a meal and a chance to get to know others on the course. This is followed by a discussion in small groups facilitated by group leaders. There is no charge for the Course, although you are welcome to contribute to the cost of the meal if you would like! "What Alpha offers, and what is attracting thousands of people is the permission, rare in secular culture to discuss the big questions, life, death and their meaning." The Guardian
"What distinguishes Alpha from other initiatives is the easy going, relaxed feel of the proceedings - that, and it's astonishing success!" The Times
